Paul Lovett’s Rehoboth’s History Series: Rehoboth’s Railroads

Rehoboth Beach Train Station

The railroad arrived in Rehoboth in 1878 and service continued until the mid-1960s.  For 65 of those years the track occupied the middle of Rehoboth Avenue, terminating at a depot located in the center of the Avenue, less than a block from the ocean.  Trains provided both passenger and freight service.  In the summer there were regularly scheduled trains twice a day.  Extra “Excursion” trains would bring six or more passenger cars full of day trippers. Come to this lecture to see the images and hear the stories.  Tickets may be reserved at rbmuseum.org. All ticket proceeds support the museum!  Call Victoria’s at 302-227-0615 for a 5-5:30 pm dinner reservation before the lecture in the beautiful Victoria’s Restaurant (not included in lecture fee).
