RBM Embarks on Ambitious Project

The Rehoboth Beach Museum has launched an important new project that will preserve information on the history of the individual lots that formed the original Rehoboth Camp Meeting Association lands, which later became the City of Rehoboth Beach. Staff member Michele Wilt and volunteer Donna Vassalotti have worked for months to collect information about ownership of lots and images of structures on the lots that were within the boundaries of the Rehoboth Camp Meeting Association, formed in 1873. While the entire project will take many months, initial work will be used in an exhibit and presentations about the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the CAMP Meeting Association to be hosted at the Rehoboth Beach Museum in 2023.

Citizen researchers have also helped by responding to posts placed by Ms. Vassalotti on Facebook pages frequented by long time locals. All information is housed on the Museum’s database, which allows for searching the information by names, locations, and dates. The Museum is grateful for Ms. Vassalotti’s help, and the help of citizen researchers who provide information to add to the museum database.
