An evening stroll along the Boardwalk is a tradition which dates back many years. After a long day of surf and sand, families would often take a walk on the boardwalk after dinner, sometimes stopping for ice cream for dessert.  Recreate that tradition with our tour leaders Jean Broland and Gerry Beaulieu. Meet them at the Bandstand at the end of Rehoboth Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Like the daytime tours, the evening stroll will provide general information about the history of Rehoboth Beach while touching on several of the Storms that have shaped the coastline, several incarnations of the Boardwalk and the beachfront in town.  The tour guides will lead walkers from the bandstand along Rehoboth Avenue, pointing out landmarks and providing photos of historical sites and events.  Topics covered are the Native peoples of the area, The Methodist Camp Meetings, Hotels and Railroad service, and Horn’s Pavilion. Other topics on the tour may include shipwrecks, naming ships such as the Falmouth, the Merrimac, the Severn and the SS Thomas Tracy, the railroad, the Belhaven Hotel, restaurants such as the Robert Lee and Snyder’s and, of course, Funland.  Included in the history will be the ice cream stands past and present.  After the tour, you might want to stop at one of our local ice cream shops, yourself for a little refreshment.. The tour is a 2-hour gentle stroll around downtown.  The cost of the tour is $10.00.  Reservations are requested and may be obtained by calling the Rehoboth Beach Museum at (302) 227-7310.  While the museum is closed, you may leave your name and telephone number on the answering machine. We will call back to confirm.
